Marco La Manna

Marco La Manna is an expert luthier who graduated from the prestigious Scuola Civica di Liuteria in Milan. His workshop is located in the Cremasque countryside, inside an old watermill, an evocative place that also houses a museum of rural civilization, a must-visit.

From a young age, Marco cultivated a great passion for the guitar and for music in general. However, what really sparked his interest was his curiosity to understand the workings of the instrument, the techniques, materials and rules that enable the magic of sound. After completing his studies at the Liceo Artistico and the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, he obtained the diploma of “Maestro in Liutary Arts” at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan.

During the four-year course, Marco had the opportunity to study under renowned masters in the field, including Tiziano Rizzi, Lorenzo Lippi, Federico Gabrielli, Silvia Zanchi, Aldo Illotta, Claudio Canevari, Gabriele Negri and Simone Colombo.

After creating his first workshop in his home garage, Marco now enjoys the satisfaction of a new space in the renovated mill, where he brings his creations to life with passion and care.

His true passion is Jazz music, particularly Manouche or Gypsy Jazz, and of course, building guitars suitable for that musical genre. His workshop focuses mainly on building and maintaining Manouche and acoustic guitars, as well as other plucked string instruments. Marco pays special attention to the philological aspect related to research and restoration of musical instruments. In addition to the creation of new instruments, Marco is an expert in the restoration and maintenance of modern and/or antique plucked string instruments.
